MFP (Main Force Performance) out of Australia has come up with a solution to this issue in their Coyote 5.0L Crank Support Kit. Check out the video below and keep reading for more info.
This bracing kit is made from billet aluminum with a billet 316 steel bearing. This crank support system helps to minimize any flex or movement in the front of the crank, via the balancer, to help prevent breakage.
The aluminum plate installs onto the timing cover around the balancer using the included spacers and bolts. The balancer bolt slides through the large 316 billet steel hub that will sit inside of the balancer to help keep it from moving/flexing from the pull of the serpentine belt.
This hub will replace the small, factory washer that is used with the balancer bolt.
The other end of the hub then sits inside of a large, high-RPM-capable bearing attached to the billet aluminum plate. These act together to keep the crank in place… and in ONE piece.
The factory crank support system on the Coyote engine is a weak link when adding an aftermarket supercharger. The added stress from the supercharger's belt and pulley system can cause the crankshaft to flex or snap, leading to catastrophic engine damage.
If the crankshaft snaps while the engine is running, it causes catastrophic, heavy internal damage to the engine that usually requires a complete rebuild or replacement.
