What does a primary school day at Learnlife look like?
The sun is shining as your child is greeted by name with a smile and a high-five or hug from our community host. They start the morning with “Real Talk”, where they share what’s on their mind, laugh, and feel truly heard. Already, they know they belong.
Next, they get stuck into English, Spanish and maths in a workshop, challenge-based format, maybe using calculations to build a house that’s protected from natural disasters and writing a recipe in Spanish. They’re not just gaining knowledge, they’re applying their learning in real-world situations.
After these core foundations, your child dives into hands-on projects where they explore their passions, connect with nature, and explore topics like meteorology and global challenges. They’re not just learning, they’re discovering what excites them, and seeing how learning connects to real life.
At lunch, they play, chat and relax with friends. In the afternoon, your child takes part in activities focused on wellbeing and movement, like outdoor sports, making a stop-motion film or challenging a friend to a game of chess.
All day, your child is noticed, supported, and celebrated. They’re not just learning. They’re growing in confidence, resilience and joy.
This is how learning should feel.

How does learning happen?
Your child joins a small, supportive group: Adventurers (ages 6–8), Discoverers (ages 8–10) or Pioneers (ages 10–12).
We believe great learning should be joyful and purposeful. That’s why our days follow a clear schedule that balances freedom and routine.
Three principles guide everything we do:
-
Agency and ownership - Children are empowered to make choices, share their voice, and take real ownership of their learning. When kids have a say, motivation and engagement soar.
-
Authentic, real-world learning - Projects and activities are based on real life and your child’s interests. Whether they’re building, creating, exploring nature, or solving problems, learning always feels relevant and meaningful.
-
Diverse learning - We use the most effective learning methods, like project-based, play-based, and nature-based learning, so every child can discover how they learn best and try new ways of thinking.
FAQs
Absolutely. We help children build strong skills in reading, writing and maths, without giving up joy, creativity or wellbeing.
Learnlife is not a Montessori school. We adopt a learner-centred education model that shares many of the same principles — including mixed-age learning, hands-on exploration, independence, and respect for each child’s pace and development.
Our approach also integrates elements from project-based learning, positive psychology and life-skills education, alongside strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and wellbeing.
Learnlife has been recognised and endorsed by Montessori experts for the quality of our learner-centred practice and learning environment. Many Montessori-trained educators and families feel at home in our community, while also valuing the additional emphasis on real-world projects, collaboration and adaptable learning pathways.
In short, while Learnlife is not Montessori, families often find that it offers a natural next step or aligned alternative.
At Learnlife, children do not have traditional homework or exams.
We believe primary-age learners progress best when time after school supports rest, play, family life and personal interests — all essential for healthy development and motivation. When meaningful practice or preparation is helpful, it is integrated into the learning day or shared in age-appropriate ways that never create stress or pressure at home.
Instead of tests, we use ongoing, holistic assessment to understand each child’s progress in literacy, numeracy, competencies and wellbeing. Learning guides observe children closely, review their work, and document growth over time through projects, workshops and learning evidence.
Families receive regular, detailed insight into their child’s development, including strengths, next steps and progress in core foundations. This ensures children build strong academic skills alongside confidence, curiosity and self-direction — without the anxiety that exams can create at this age.
We hold high expectations for every learner. We simply assess progress in ways that reflect how children actually learn.
If you want your child to love learning, feel like they belong, and grow in confidence, Learnlife is for you.
Yes. Our learners move easily to both traditional and innovative secondary schools, ready with confidence and a love of learning.
