Net Zero Cat Litter, Naturally

At Kittilitt, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to be a Net Zero business and have been accredited with the UNESCO Biosphere Certification Mark, the only globally recognised badge for sustainability. Every decision we make, from sourcing to manufacturing, supports a cleaner, greener future.
From Scottish Forests to Fluffy Pellets
Each 10kg bag of Kittilitt contains thousands of perfectly formed pellets, once part of a mighty Spruce Pine tree, felled in a sustainably managed Scottish forest.
We source all timber locally, and for every tree harvested, multiple seedlings are planted to ensure continuous forest regeneration.
Efficient, Eco-Friendly Manufacturing
Once the trees are felled, they’re chopped into logs and delivered to our factory in Ayrshire, just a short journey away. Within hours, the logs are ground in a biomass-powered mill, running on energy pellets we create ourselves.
Our entire manufacturing process is powered by a high-efficiency combined heat and power system, which even uses bark stripped from the logs to generate electricity – nothing goes to waste!
How We Make Kittilitt Pellets
-
The softwood is milled into a fine grain, maximising absorbency (mega-absorbent).
-
It’s then dried using biomass heat, removing all moisture.
-
While still warm, the wood is tightly compressed, the natural pine resin binds the fibres into smooth pellets.
-
No glue, chemicals, or artificial additives – just pure, natural wood.
This gentle process retains the wood’s antiseptic properties, resulting in a fresh, clean-smelling cat litter that fluffs up beautifully in use.
The finished pellets are 100% wood – no dust, nothing added and nothing is taken away – and their high density means, ultimately, more pellets to your bag without a milligram of moisture – let your cat produce that! Kittilitt – for cats to do their business… naturally!
