The InsaneJournal community is very tight-knit and very accepting of all people, it doesn't matter what you look like, what you listen to, or how old you are
At InsaneJournal we believe in freedom of expression. We will not censor content unless it obviously violates United Sates law and we receive an offical takedown notice. We do not self-police the site.
Yes we are fanfic friendly. We believe works of fiction are just that. And unless such work infringes on a copyright that does not fall under "fair use" we believe you have the right to post that content.

We've added a feature to the site to allow you to break the link between renamed accounts. If you are using an account that was renamed to by a different account, and want to remove the link between accounts, head to https://www.insanejournal.com/rename/manage.bml

Understand that removing this link is permanent. Please fully read the page before doing this. We cannot restore this. It will mark the old username as deleted and will be available to anyone with a rename token after the linking has been removed once it is purged.

squeaky: Wed 06-03-2026 10:01: Login issues with clients
We recently made some backend changes to improve the overall security on the site. This has caused a change in how some 3rd party clients and browser plugins interact with the site. If you are having an issue logging in with your client, the client needs to be updated to use clear authentication to retain password usage. This is safe as long as the client is sending all requests over HTTPS which we enforce.

Otherwise, you can generate an API key and use that in place of your password. Your API keys can be created and managed at https://www.insanejournal.com/manage/apikeys.bml
