The Institute provides Ph.D. programs in four distinct fields of study. To be eligible for consideration, prospective candidates are required to hold a postgraduate degree (M.S./M.Sc./M.Tech./MBBS) in a discipline relevant to their chosen Ph.D. program. Additionally, they must have successfully qualified a national entrance examination. A valid National level examination, such as National Eligibility Test (NET), GATE, UGC-JRF, CSIR-JRF, DBT (JRF A category), ICMR (JRF category I), NET-LS, INSPIRE-Ph.D., Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship, JGEEBILS, or any other recognized score, is mandatory. It is essential that the certificate or fellowship remains valid at the time of admission.
Doctoral students are expected to complete coursework, pass a qualifying examination, participate in seminars, and prepare a dissertation in order to fulfill the requirements of the program. Beyond these mandatory elements, students are encouraged to engage in various professional activities, including workshops, review meetings, and conferences. Moreover, all doctoral students are required to contribute to the undergraduate teaching program of the Institute as part of their training.
