5K Electrical Apprenticeship Program

5K Training & Development - Horizontal L

The 5K Electrical Apprenticeship Program, in partnership with Hays Electrical Services, is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor and provides a structured pathway toward a successful career as a licensed electrician.

This four-year program equips apprentices with technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and professional conduct required to excel in the electrical trade.

Structured Curriculum

Approximately 40 weeks of instruction each year covering electrical theory, wiring, circuits, tools and equipment, safety, and the National Electric Code.

Flexible Scheduling

Classes are held on various weekdays, determined by level, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with fall and spring semester start dates.

Hands-On Learning

Apprentices reinforce classroom instruction through on-the-job training.

Placement Opportunities

Students may be placed based on previous education or experience, with opportunities to test out of certain levels.

Certification

Graduates receive a program completion certificate, a national apprenticeship diploma, and may qualify for a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship diploma.

Who Can Apply?

Must be at least 18 years old
Must be a Hays Electrical Services employee
Must have a valid Electrician Apprentice License (TDLR)
