Understanding the Extraordinary Minds of Twice-Gifted Children
At Gifted ND, we recognize what traditional systems can't because it would reveal the truth about their oppressive structure. Extraordinary minds operate on a fundamentally different principle. They need the integration of intelligence between mind and body.
Standard vs. Creative Thinking
Genuine creativity is a very different way of thinking than the traditionally recognized iterative creativity. Creative intelligence operates outside of abstraction, in whole picture reality. It synthesizes conceptual understanding with embodied experience to generate innovations that transcend existing frameworks. Your 2e child is not behind, they are struggling because the system is behind. They are being taught with abstractions that are incomplete and shallow. Their incredible creative intelligence requires more. They need to understand the whole picture to deeply understand.
Bloom's Taxonomy places creativity at level 6—as the pinnacle of thinking, that emerges only after mastering remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, and evaluating—this model fundamentally misunderstands how creative minds function. This model focuses on Cognitive Stamina ignoring what's at the opposite end of our intelligence spectrum, Cognitive Flexibility.
Creative intelligence operates with high cognitive flexibility—the capacity to fluidly integrate different intelligence systems:
-
Cognitive Intelligence: the analytical, linear, binary, small picture intelligence
-
Somatic Intelligence: The embodied cognitive, big picture, nonlinear, sensing data driven intelligence
-
Creative Intelligence: The integrated whole picture creative intelligence.
Highly creative individuals are not struggling with the cognitive processes traditional education demands they master before expressing creativity. They can do them for short periods and learn the task just like everyone else. They are struggling because their cognitive stamina is designed to serve all three intelligence. They are struggling with the fragmentation of their intelligence because the classroom requires them to fragment for 7 hours a day. This approach hurts the most intelligent children because it is designed to condition them out of their creative and somatic intelligence and into their cognitive. Their highest cognitive stamina lies in the integration rather than the fragment. Their brilliant and rare intelligence is designed to excel at complex creative challenges.
Bloom's Taxonomy - Traditional Levels of Thinking
Level 1: Remembering - Recalling facts and basic concepts
Level 2: Understanding - Explaining ideas or concepts
Level 3: Applying - Using information in new situations
Level 4: Analyzing - Drawing connections among ideas
Level 5: Evaluating - Justifying a stand or decision
Level 6: Creating - Producing new or original work
Gifted ND Taxonomy - Creative Intelligence Integration and Capabilities
Level 6: Iterative Creation - Beginning integration. Recombines existing elements in novel ways
Level 7: Framework Extension - Expanding integration. Pushes beyond boundaries while maintaining connections
Level 8: Paradigm Genesis - Substantial integration. Creates entirely new frameworks to reorganize understanding
Level 9: Multi-Paradigmatic - Advanced integration. Moves fluidly between multiple self-created paradigms
Level 10: Recursive Self-Modification - Near complete integration. Thinking processes modify their own foundational structures
Level 11: Singularity Creation - Total Integration. Generates self-sufficient cognitive ecosystems
PRESERVE YOUR CHILD'S NATURAL GENIUS
Children Are Born With Holistic Intelligence
Children naturally see the world as an interconnected whole. They perceive patterns, connections, and possibilities that most adults have forgotten how to see. This natural holistic intelligence—the ability to think across boundaries, integrate knowledge, and perceive complex relationships—is their birthright.
Yet our conventional education system systematically fragments this intelligence, teaching children to separate what should remain connected, to specialize at the expense of integration, and to follow linear processes when reality demands holistic understanding.
The Critical Window of Opportunity
The developmental years represent our greatest opportunity and our greatest risk. During this time, children either maintain and strengthen their natural holistic intelligence or gradually lose it through fragmented, reductive educational approaches.
This is not about choosing between traditional academics and free exploration. It's about transforming how learning happens so that knowledge reinforces rather than replaces holistic thinking.
When we preserve children's holistic intelligence during these formative years, we eliminate the need for the difficult work of recovering it later in life. We maintain what nature provides, rather than dismantling and then struggling to rebuild it.
A Customized Approach
Every child and family situation is unique. We don't offer a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, we work with you to create exactly the right approach for your child's specific needs and circumstances.
As parents we have navigated every possible educational path, from traditional schooling to homeschooling to hybrid approaches, flexibility is essential. Sometimes the best approach means:
-
Creating a completely customized curriculum that preserves holistic thinking
-
Finding the right teachers who understand how to nurture integrated intelligence
-
Adapting existing programs to support rather than fragment your child's natural genius
-
Developing new approaches tailored to your child's unique learning style and interests
Whatever your situation requires, we'll build it together. This isn't about ideology or dogma—it's about results. We do whatever works to protect and develop your child's full potential.
Beyond Traditional Education
What we're creating goes beyond alternative education. We are developing a network of holistic educators who can guide children through a truly integrated learning journey—one that prepares them not just for today's world but for the rapidly evolving future they will inhabit.
This network includes:
-
Mentors who embody holistic intelligence in specific domains
-
Learning environments designed to nurture integrated thinking
-
Curriculum approaches that connect rather than separate knowledge
-
Pathways for children to eventually become mentors themselves
We goal is to create a new kind of education system. One built on holistic principles from the ground up, designed to develop the kind of intelligence that will be essential in the complex world our children will navigate as adults.
The Natural Evolution of Learning
Throughout human history, we've moved from integrated, holistic understanding (4D thinking) to specialized, fragmented approaches (2D thinking). We're now at a critical juncture where the limitations of fragmented thinking are becoming increasingly apparent. By preserving and developing your child's natural holistic intelligence now, you're positioning them at the forefront of this transition—giving them the cognitive tools that will soon be essential for navigating an increasingly complex world.
