What is the SDG Open Hack?
The SDG Open Hack is an atypical 24-hour hackathon, in partnership with United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Open Geneva, University of Geneva, Sparkboard, codetogether.AI, tertiary education institutions, universities and corporate partners in Singapore!
The SDG Open Hack aims to cultivate sustainable innovation through solving challenges on pertinent sustainability topics and promoting collaboration across diverse disciplines and fields.
Students choose challenge topics according to their interests, form an interdisciplinary innovation team online, and work hard to develop innovative solutions.
Selected teams will have the opportunity to present to our panel of judges at the Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony.
Is the SDG Open Hack for me?
This competition is open to current tertiary education institutions and university students studying in Singapore with a keen interest in developing innovative solutions to tackle the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students from all backgrounds with diverse skillsets may register.
Students are encouraged to form teams across institutions and disciplines and selected teams can present to our panel of judges at the Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony!
Come register and join us at this year’s SDG Open Hack!

AI Coding Enablement Workshop
As part of SDG Open Hack Singapore 2026’s new focus on building AI-ready changemakers, selected campus editions may feature a hands-on AI prototyping workshop, offered either as an optional add-on or an integrated programme component depending on each campus’ requirements.
Guided by CodeTogether.ai’s experienced product builders and engineers, participants will learn how to use AI-assisted coding tools such as v0, Manus, Magic Patterns, Cursor, Claude, and ChatGPT to scope, build, deploy, and demo functional solutions during the hackathon. This enables teams to move beyond concept slides and present real, demonstrable prototypes that bring their sustainability ideas to life.

SDG Innovation Bootcamp
To equip participants with tools and skillsets to excel in the challenge, the SDG innovation bootcamp will run before the campus SDG Open Hack Singapore.
