AV Requirements

Jason is an affable wizard, and can make magic in even the most challenging contexts. Having said that, here are some recommendations for how to ensure his contribution to your event is as efficacious as can be.

Sound

Jason moves around and interacts with every audience. For large audiences it is essential to have a wireless madonna headset or lapel microphone available, with fresh batteries. Jason prefers being able to mute and un-mute this microphone directly (rather than being locked on).

For smaller or more intimate gatherings it may well be that amplification is not required. Still, having a wireless lapel or handheld mic on hand would still be a good idea.

An audio technician should be available prior to the presentation to ensure all is in working order.

tl;dr – wireless headset or lapel mic

Stage

Jason is pretty relaxed about stage set up. Lighting is important, but we assume you know what you are doing. His main requirement is that he has some water nearby. If it’s possible to have a raised stool that would be nice—but this is not essential.

tl;dr – good lighting and some water nearby

Slides

Jason doesn’t tend to run slides for most events these days—we spend so much of our days looking at screens, and events offer a chance to tap into an older magic.

But if in our conversations we decide that slides would be apt, Jason’s strong preference is to run it from his own MacBook Pro from the stage. This is so that he can move through slides asynchronously, without any technical issues.

It is worth advising AV technicians of this requirement ahead of time, so that they can run HDMI and power cables to the stage. He has a relatively new MacBook Pro that accepts a direct HDMI connection.

Note: his slides are quite gorgeous—but not essential. Should the technology gods frown upon us on the day of your event, Jason can easily work without them. Note: Jason cannot run slides on another laptop, and he does not send slides in advance.

tl;dr – MacBook Pro from the stage via HDMI connection (visual only)

Biographies & Introductions

Here are short and long versions of Dr Fox’s biography, which you can use in your program. These can also serve as introductions that your Master of Ceremonies can use—though whenever possible, Jason loves a warm and somewhat off-the-cuff introduction.

The point of an introduction to establish credibility, so that your speaker can dive right in. Your audience will be wondering: who is this person, and why are they here? The introduction serves to answer these questions.

Consider the following as but a starting point.

Long Biography (probably don’t read all of this aloud)

Dr. Jason Fox is a wizard-philosopher, motivational speaker and leadership advisor. He works with clever teams and questing leaders seeking meaningful progress—beyond the default.

His many happy clients include the senior leadership teams of Fortune 500 companies around the world including Microsoft, HP, Novartis, Red Bull, Cisco, Johnson & Johnson, Toyota, Honda, Sony, Oracle, Honeywell and Salesforce, to other multinationals such as Beam Suntory, Singtel, Tableau, Gartner, Xero, Bupa, Red Cross, Bulgari, Pandora, Porsche, Arup, Aon, PWC, Ricoh, KPMG, The World Tourism Forum and The International Institute of Research (not to mention: finance, deep tech, telcos, government, family offices, agriculture, mining, defence, and so on).

Dr. Fox has lectured at three universities (living systems) and is the bestselling author of The Game Changer and How to Lead a Quest. In addition to serving as a leadership adviser, Jason is also a globally in-demand keynote speaker who works particularly well with smart and sceptical audiences who have ‘seen it all before’. Formerly named Australia’s Keynote Speaker of the Year, Dr. Fox has been inducted into the Professional Speakers Hall of Fame.

Jason lives with an illustrator-veterinarian, a chihuahua named Snorri and a cat called π in an old chocolate factory in Melbourne, Australia. When not liberating the world from the delusion of progress, Jason enjoys partaking in extreme sports such as reading, sun-avoidance and coffee snobbery.
