Movie review: 'Dog Man' (2025)

Your rating: None Average: 2.5 (2 votes)

Dog Man (trailer) is an 89-minute 3D action-comedy animated film released by DreamWorks in 2025. It was written and directed by Peter Hastings, based on the Dog Man series of children's graphic novels by Dav Pilkey, which are a spin-off from his Captain Underpants books. And because this film is up for a 2025 Ursa Major Award, this seemed like a good opportunity to watch and review it, while the voting period is still open!

Dog Man is an anthro-dog cop, created in a hospital emergency room after an accident critically injures a human cop and his pet dog, saving their lives by fusing them together. Don't think about it too much. He has no tail and communicates entirely by canine sounds. His arch-enemy is an anthro-cat criminal named Petey, who's very fond of creating diabolical machines. The whole thing is happily silly, and remarkably, the trailer doesn't spoil anything!

(Though it does lie. Dog Man can, in fact, play the piano quite well.)

Tubi Acquires a Large Catalog of Animated Content

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

The fate of Warner Bros. seems to be up in the air, as the company burns billions of dollars each year, proceeding with major staff layoffs and cancelled projects. In the past few years, Warner Bros. removed most of their animated content from HBO Max and were about to shelve their upcoming Looney Tunes film Coyote vs. Acme until Ketchup Entertainment acquired distribution rights.

On February 13, 2026, streaming service Tubi announced they will add many classic Warner Bros.-owned cartoons to their platform this March. The selection of cartoons range from the 1960s to the 2010s, so there's a lot of variety.

Vanity Fair protected Epstein two years after sensationalizing furries in infamous Pleasures of Fur article

Your rating: None Average: 3 (4 votes)

It is now March of 2026, and a story over two decades old has now been given new life and a new perspective when it comes to the behavior of media organizations in the early 2000s. At this time furries faced a hostile media landscape which included many infamous titles, such as “that one episode of CSI” by the name of Fur and Loathing.

This story is in regards to another of these publications, which was an article published by Vanity Fair by the name of “Pleasures of the Fur” this article went into very adult aspects of the fandom in a particularly sensationalist way that many furries of the time felt was inappropriate. The article was released in March of 2001 by George Gurley. It is a very raw, gonzo style piece that talks with furries and locals around Midwest Furfest in the year 2000, back when as the article mentioned, only 400 were in attendance.

Title.jpg

Two years following this article, another piece would be released by Vanity Fair that was far more reserved in its approach. In fact the article didn't make the cover unlike our own. This hushed article of praise would end up changing the trajectory of an entire country toward one of its darkest chapters. This article covered the billionaire by the name of Jeffery Epstein. Recently it has come to light that the original author for that piece had their story reshaped and partially redacted when she found a thread of abuse perpetrated by the billionaire. Now in 2026, these are allegations that we are all too familiar with in the modern day after Jeffery’s conviction and death in prison.

Like other things around this story, reader discretion is advised as this covers topics such as abuse.

BetaEtaDelota steps down as Bewhiskered Guest of Honor due to Anti-ABDL campaign

Your rating: None Average: 4 (2 votes)

Noeth Carolina Anthro Society.jpgOn February 24th, the North Carolina based furry convention Bewhiskered announced that furry YouTube content creator Beta Eta Delota would no longer be present as a Guest of Honor for their 2026 gathering.

We want to let you know that Beta Eta Delota will not be appearing as a Guest of Honor this year at Bewhiskered 2026. This decision was not made lightly and was made in coordination with Beta to ensure our ability to host a smooth and safe convention.

As many of you know, Beta has been the subject of a harassment campaign for the last several months. That campaign has unfortunately impacted us as well and generated more than one safety concern for the convention. The unfortunate end result, that we both agree on, is that if Beta were to attend, we are unsure we could offer him the quality experience that a Guest of Honor deserves and would have very real safety concerns to prepare for.

We have been and will continue to be a kink-friendly organization and will always do our best to uphold our values. This will be reflected by the panels we select, the dealers we invite, and more. - North Carolina Anthro Society

This announcement comes in the midst of an ongoing controversy in furry content creator spaces revolving around anti-ABDL furries from TikTok and pro-kink furries from YouTube, which has now bled into real world consequences at physical gatherings.

Nominations Are Open for the Good Furry Awards

Your rating: None Average: 2.6 (5 votes)

Nominations for the Good Furry Awards are now open now through June 30. This is an annual awards program run by furries for the furry fandom. It recognizes furries who do good deeds and promote a positive image of the fandom. Nominations come from the furry community to acknowledge people in three categories:

  • The Good Egg Award for volunteer work.
  • The Image Award for furries who work in various media promoting the fandom and educating the public about it.
  • The Furtastic Award for furries who do wonderful things in the community that do not easily fall into the first two categories.

Any furry can nominate other furries who they feel are likely candidates by following this link https://www.unclebearpublishing.com/good-furry-awards.html.

Each category's winner will receive a handsome trophy and a check for $200. Nominees who did not win in a category will receive a certificate stating their nomination.

The awards also have a Lifetime Achievement category that is chosen by committee. Previous winners of the Lifetime Achievement include Mark Merlino, Rod O'Riley, Steve Gallacci, Reed Waller, and Ken Fletcher.

Winners will be announced in September.

Back to the Dawn - Of prisons, routines, and corruption

Your rating: None Average: 4 (2 votes)

The title.jpgTime estimate: 28 - 34 hours (Thomas [Fox] Playthough)
Available: XBox,Steam
Game Type: Narrative based Slice of Life RPG with resource management elements
Elements of Game not Reviewed: Bob [Panther] Playthrough, combat elements

Back to the Dawn is a computer game where your character Thomas, a fox journalist, ends up in prison by a corrupt mayor looking to quash a story about a facility plant polluting a nearby community that the politician’s relatives “allegedly” have some stake in. Your imprisonment comes 21 days before the re-election campaign that will ensure his corruption will remain for many years to come. In this game and story you will need to lead Thomas on his mission to prove his innocence, or perhaps find a way to flee the prison and corrupt metropolis that has put a target on his back.

This is a life simulator RPG mixed with time and resource management. You’ll need to play to your strengths to acquire items and information that can help you on your journey to freedom, all while the system wants to break your mind and body so that you give up or give in.

You can also play as another character who acts as an NPC in Thomas’s quest. Bob the black panther is an undercover officer who is assigned to the prison and has an entire quest unique to him. I did not play that to review however.

Yiff in development hell: Movies covered by Flayrah that no longer exist

Your rating: None Average: 3 (2 votes)

americandog.jpg

Amid Amidi reports on his Cartoon Brew website about Disney’s plans to produce a 2016 animated feature about a fox and rabbit “odd couple” in a world of talking animals. Let’s hope this gets farther than Silly Hillbillies on Mars. (Hey, Disney, whatever happened to that?)
Fred Patten, Disney promises "odd couple" furry flick 'Zootopia' in 2016

Not all furry movies can be Zootopia, with its combination of critical acclaim, box office success and industry awards. However, not all furry movies can be, period. Sometimes, a movie gets announced, and then never actually makes it to theaters (or even home video or streaming services).

Flayrah has covered quite a few movie announcements, some quite early in development, and while sometimes an early article on "Zootopia (working title)" or Master P: Kung-Fu Panda leads to furry greatness, sometimes it leads nowhere. The following is a list of such movies covered by Flayrah at least up until 2020. And who knows, maybe some of them will slip out of development hell and finally become real movies!

Note: Expect a lot of dead links in the older archived articles listed below.

Movie review: 'GOAT' (2026)

Your rating: None Average: 3.8 (4 votes)

GOAT (trailer) is a computer-animated sports-comedy film from Sony Pictures Animation, released in February 2026. Directed by Tyree Dillihay and Adam Rosette, it's 100 minutes long. I don't even like sports, and I really enjoyed it! Rotten Tomatoes currently rates it 83% / 93%. I'd definitely recommend going to see it before Disney's Hoppers steals the limelight.

Taking place in a world of anthro animals (yay!), the manager of the struggling Vineland Thorns basketball roarball team recruits a new player named Will, a goat played by Caleb McLaughlin. Will has dreamed his whole life of becoming a pro, and is up against a ton of discrimination for being physically small on the court. But mostly it's the other members of the team who are their own worst enemies - and Will's arrival is the catalyst that starts turning things around.

Titles being removed from Netflix in February 2026

No votes yet

This is an incomplete list of titles that will be removed from Netflix during February 2026, mostly in Canada and/or in the United States. Unless otherwise noted, end dates are based on the Netflix Canada service.

(Started putting this list together around Feb. 7, so it mostly skips any content that was removed during the first week of the month. It was slow work; some USA exit dates are elusive to verify.)

The most discouraging losses (in my opinion) are Sing and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power; details below.

Exclusive: How Anthro New England Plans to Expand

Your rating: None Average: 3.5 (2 votes)

Saturday crowd_0.jpeg

A crowded Westin hotel on Saturday afternoon. The convention has doubled in size while staying in the same footprint. (Flayrah/Eberra Wolf)

When Anthro New England had its fourth year in the Westin Boston Seaport Hotel last month, it was obvious to attendees that it had outgrown the space that it occupies. When moving into the Westin in 2023, after being in the Boston Park Plaza hotel for a few years, there were 3,548 attendees. By 2026 they have more than doubled that, to 7,284. All the event space in the Westin had already been contracted out in 2023, and there isn’t additional space to grow in the hotel. Yet the convention needs more of it.

At the end of closing ceremonies, the convention hinted at expansion, telling attendees to wait for an announcement later in the year. Flayrah has been given exclusive information, in a series of interviews, on the plans the convention has for the future of the convention. While not finalized, it gives a glimpse into negotiations and plans often kept hidden from public view by organizers.
