Meet the Mother–Daughter Team Behind EDNavigators

EDNavigators was founded by Sandy Aprahamian, a longtime educator and college and career counselor with over 25 years of experience guiding students and families through some of the most important decisions in their lives.

As the company has grown, her daughter Alyssa has joined her in building and growing EDNavigators. Together, they collaborate on the overall vision, approach, and continued development of the business.

While EDNavigators is a true mother–daughter partnership, Sandy remains the primary point of contact and leads all college and career counseling services, ensuring every family receives a clear, consistent, and highly personalized experience.

What makes this approach unique is the combination of deep experience, current classroom insight, and a strong focus on helping students understand their “Why”- who they are, what they value, and where they are headed.

Our Approach

At EDNavigators, this process is not transactional- it’s relational.

We are not just helping students complete applications. We are helping them understand themselves.

Everything begins with getting to know each student- how they think, what they enjoy, where their strengths lie, and what kind of future they are working toward. From there, we help them identify their “Why” and build a path that reflects it.

We stay connected with our students throughout college and continue to support them as they make decisions about majors, internships, and early career paths. Our goal is to guide students not just into college, but through it- and beyond.

Sandy Aprahamian, M.Ed.

Founder, Lead College & Career Counselor, and SAT Prep Specialist

Sandy is the heart of EDNavigators and works directly with every student and family throughout the entire process.

With over 25 years of experience, she brings a calm, thoughtful, and highly personalized approach. Her focus is not just on getting students into college, but on helping them understand where they are going and why.

As part of her work, Sandy provides SAT preparation alongside college and career counseling, helping students strengthen their skills, build confidence, and approach testing with a clear strategy.

Through tools like the Birkman, MBTI, and Strong Interest Inventory, Sandy helps students uncover their natural strengths and identify potential career paths that align with them.

This deeper understanding allows students to make confident, informed decisions- not just about college, but about their future.

Education & Credentials:

  • M.Ed., Seton Hall University
  • B.A. in Economics, Bucknell University
  • Certified Independent Educational Consultant (UC Irvine)
  • Member of IECA, NACAC, and National Test Prep Association

Sandy intentionally limits the number of students she works with each year to ensure every family receives individualized attention and long-term support.

Alyssa Aprahamian B.Ed.

Academic Specialist (Algebra 1 & HSPT Prep)

Alyssa supports students in Algebra 1 and HSPT preparation, helping them build the academic skills and confidence needed to succeed.

As a current teacher, she brings an up-to-date understanding of how students learn today. She knows what students are struggling with in real classrooms and how to support them in a way that actually makes sense.

Her sessions are structured, supportive, and focused on helping students truly understand what they are learning- not just memorize steps.

Why Our Approach Works

At EDNavigators, students are not just preparing for college- they are building a foundation for their future.

  • Relationship-based guidance: We take the time to truly know each student
  • Centered on the “Why”: Every decision is rooted in who the student is
  • Long-term support: From high school through college and into early career decisions
  • Led by experience: Sandy guides every step of the process
  • Supported by current insight: Alyssa brings a modern, classroom-based perspective

This approach allows students to move forward with clarity and confidence- knowing not just where they are going, but why it matters.

"Sandy, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! No words can express the positive emotions we felt after our meeting with you. You got to know our daughter so well and your presentation and proposed plan for her not only eliminated our anxiety about the college process, but also got us all excited about the process moving forward. I haven't seen her smile so big for a long time."

"Sandy. Just a quick note to let you know how much we appreciate the work you have done with our son. Other than by us (which doesn't count) he has never been told he is smart before... But I think you have been able to show him the difference it makes. Thank you and have a great weekend."
"She has learned SO MUCH from you and truly values your guidance. Thank you so much for those sweet words, as well as for helping make an overwhelming time in her life not be so scary. 😍"
