Economic Development Cowichan

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) Board of Directors approved a decision to discontinue funding for the Economic Development Cowichan service, effective February 20, 2026.

The decision followed a review of the organization’s finances, budget priorities, and available funding. After careful consideration, the Board determined that it could no longer continue funding the service while maintaining other core services requiring cost priortization in 2026.

The organization has notified partner organizations, including government and key community members, and will share future updates about service impacts as needed.

As of February 20, 2026, the CVRD will no longer have staff resources assigned to Economic Development Cowichan.
