Located in Chamarel, Ebony Forest Reserve offers visitors the opportunity to explore restored ecosystems through guided walks, birdwatching, and panoramic viewpoints - -while directly supporting wildlife conservation and restoration efforts.
What is Ebony Forest?
Ebony Forest is a non-profit conservation organisation in Mauritius working to restore native ecosystems and protect threatened endemic plants and animals.
Through forest restoration, invasive species management, and species conservation programmes, Ebony Forest actively contributes to safeguarding Mauritius’ unique biodiversity.
As a registered training centre, Ebony Forest also builds local and regional capacity in conservation, offering training, placements, and hands-on learning in ecological restoration and biodiversity management.
Where is Ebony Forest located?
Ebony Forest Reserve is in Chamarel, in the south-west of Mauritius, near Le Morne Brabant.
The reserve overlooks one of the island’s most iconic landscapes, with sweeping views of forests, mountains, and coastline.
