What is a safe walk?
A Safe Walk is a free service provided by our friendly and trained Downtown Van Safety Ambassadors. Whether you’re walking to your car, heading to a transit station, or making your way to an event, our team is here to walk with you—virtually or in-person.

7 days a week from 8:30 AM – 10:30 PM
How it works

Open the Downtown Van App

Select “Safe Walk” as your request and select “In-Person” or “Virtual” under details.

Share your location and destination

In-Person Safe Walk: A trained ambassador will meet you and walk you safely to your destination within 30 minutes of your request
Virtual Safe Walk: A trained ambassador will stay on the phone with you every step of the way
Who Can Use It?
Everyone! Visitors, workers, students, and residents alike are encouraged to use the Safe Walk program as long as it’s within the downtown core.
