Eight CUNY Faculty Members Receive Prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship

The City University of New York celebrates the selection of eight faculty members as recipients of the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship. Each year, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation offers fellowships to extraordinary individuals leading the way in the creative arts, natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities.

ICYMI: NYCEDC Awards $7 Million Capital Investment to CUNY to Build Green Workforce Training Facilities at Several Colleges Across New York City

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) announced the award of a $7 million capital investment to the City University of New York (CUNY) that will be distributed across six campuses to develop and modernize green economy workforce training infrastructure to prepare and train the next generation of New Yorkers for climate-smart careers. The funding will go to a variety of infrastructure investments including specialized training spaces, labs, classrooms, and equipment tailored to green economy instruction.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the launch of the Evelyn Linares Legacy Scholarship, a new $50,000 fund housed at CUNY City College, to support New York students entering the teaching profession. This initiative is a direct continuation and expansion of the Carol Robles-Román Excellence Award at CUNY John Jay College announced during last year’s Somos Conference in Albany. By adding this new fund at CUNY City College, the Governor is building a comprehensive scholarship portfolio for New York students.

City University of New York Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez and LaGuardia Community College President Kenneth Adams today visited the college’s Deaf Studies Program, the only such program in New York City. Following on the heels of National American Sign Language (ASL) Day, the visit served to highlight CUNY’s effort to prepare students for careers in support of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.

CUNY Announces Kathryn Wylde Scholarship in Business and Public Service

The City University of New York today announced the establishment of the Kathryn Wylde Scholarship in Business and Public Service, an annual award that will go to CUNY undergraduate students who demonstrate a commitment to careers in civic and corporate leadership. The scholarship is supported by a $100,000 endowment by the Partnership for New York City to honor Wylde, who led the organization for 25 years until her retirement earlier this year.
