Annie Thériault
Annie Thériault, Managing Partner at CBIV, has been immersed in venture capital, impact investing, royalty financing, and managing capital markets strategies throughout her career. Annie is a thought leader in the field of inclusive health technology investing with a gender and impact lens. As a lead investor, Annie serves on the board of directors of several North American and European venture-backed companies. She is also often an advisor or speaker at health technology and global health conferences and, prior to the launch of CBIV, was Chief Investment Officer at Grand Challenges Canada following a successful career in traditional investment management. Annie obtained her PhD in Management from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, is a CFA Charterholder, and holds the ICD.D designation. She also has a Master’s degree in Business Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Chemistry from Mount Allison University.

Dona Parr
Donna Parr, Managing Partner at CBIV, has more than 30 years of experience managing venture capital, growth equity, and private debt portfolios of up to $1 billion. She has been a manager of two biotech-related funds (GrowthWorks Canadian Fund and Canadian Medical Discoveries Fund) and has held roles at several pension funds including OMERS and CPP. She is currently on the boards of Constellation Software and Topicus.com. Donna holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Toronto and earned her MBA from the Schulich School of Business. She holds the ICD.D designation.

Juanita Cortés
Juanita Cortés, Chief Financial Officer of Cross-Border Impact Ventures, has extensive experience as a financial leader in a variety of industries in the private and public sector, including not-for-profit organizations, private equity, manufacturing, oil & mining, SaaS, financial services and start-ups. Her strategic expertise has helped support companies through domestic and global IPOs and mergers & acquisitions. She has designed, implemented, and managed efficient accounting processes and created short- and long-term business plans and budgets to help companies succeed with managing cash flows. Juanita has led the audit of many different organizations with positive results. She is qualified as a Public Accountant and Auditor in Mexico and has over 25 years of Canadian experience and proficient in GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, and ASPE. She is an outdoor enthusiast, enjoys gardening and most of all, Zumba dancing.

Megan Dover
Megan Dover, Partner and Co-founder of CBIV, has in depth experience in impact investing, angel investing, venture advisory, M&A, business strategy and Financial Planning & Analysis. Prior to the launch of the firm, she was a venture advisor to a portfolio of impact first health technology companies and mobilized $46 million in equity and non dilutive capital for the portfolio. Megan has also held senior level roles in corporate finance and strategy for a publicly traded mining and infrastructure company, worked in management consulting for a global consulting firm, been part of an R&D team for a biotech startup and acted as an advisor and angel investor at the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL). Megan obtained her MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, receiving a Dean’s list ranking. She also earned her Engineering degree with Honours from Queen’s University, specializing in Biomedical Research within Chemical Engineering.

Pooja Sikka
Pooja is a Venture Partner at CBIV and has worked in health and life sciences for over 20 years across venture capital, entrepreneurship, management consulting and health policy, and is a practising medical doctor. She’s a former Partner in one of Europe’s largest VC funds, Octopus Ventures, prior to that led the healthcare corporate venture portfolio for EY, UK, and has invested over $60m capital in early-stage companies across her VC roles. She has founded and successfully exited a UK-based healthcare service business and developed the clinical and digital health strategy for her family’s healthcare chain in India. She holds a number of advisor roles working with UK health systems to adopt health technologies, directly with start ups and VCs in Europe, including KHP Ventures and the National Association of Primary Care. She is known as an enthusiast and thought leader for the adoption of health technology in everyday clinical practice and health system transformation, and contributed to national transformation and policy programmes for the UK’s NHS. She holds an MBA from Imperial College London, alongside her medical degree (MBBS), BSc Int in Clinical Psychology and specialist qualifications in General Practice.

Tasha Noronha
Tasha Noronha, Partnerships and Operations Manager at CBIV, comes to us with a decade of experience in project management, stakeholder engagement and administrative roles across the real estate industry and global health and development ecosystem. Prior to her role, she was at the Grand Challenges Canada Foundation, where she was responsible for supporting the operationalization of the Foundation and nurturing of key relationships with a priority on key funders, strategic partnerships and prospective new partners for Grand Challenges Canada programs. Tasha previously worked with the Every Woman Every Child Innovation Marketplace alongside CBIV’s founders, which mobilized $46M in equity and non-dilutive financing by its close. Tasha graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto, and has a specialist Bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies.

Issy Gordon
Issy Gordon, Investment Director at CBIV, has spent the majority of her career in venture capital and startups. Issy has spent five years on the early stage investment team at Salica Investments, formerly known as Hambro Perks, one of Europe’s leading Seed and Series A investors. At Salica Investments, Issy was responsible for the healthcare investment strategy and worked with leading healthtech companies including Daye, Peppy, Lindus Health, Suri and Theremia. Prior to this, Issy worked at Deloitte in the M&A team whilst at LBS, focused on post-merger integrations. Issy began her career in product and growth roles in two fintech startups, Percent and Asset Vault. Issy holds a Master’s degree in Management from London Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Bristol, where she received the Dean’s List award.

Femke Smeets
Femke Smeets, Managing Director of Emerging Markets at CBIV, is a seasoned health impact leader with close to 20 years of experience in business development, health financing, capacity building, and impact management across Africa, Latin America, the US, and Europe. She has held various roles, including founding partner of an impact investment consultancy, head of a technical assistance facility for the first health SME fund in Africa, and head of business development and fundraising for innovative health financing and digital health organizations focused on Africa. Additionally, Femke has experience in startup and early-stage scale-up of health Insurtech platforms for LMICs, healthcare project finance consulting in LMICs, and public sector roles in Europe and the US. She also serves on advisory boards and boards of various organizations, including the Red Cross Humanitarian Health Fund and the Foundation Rural Energy Services in Africa. Femke has completed an executive leadership program from INSEAD Business School, holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
