After working together for over 20 years, Jon Courtney-Thompson and Sue Hetherington have created an exciting design focused architecture and landscape practice, creating bespoke projects for discerning clients
– COURTINGTONS.
We would like to explain to you what we offer, and why that is different to most architecture and landscape practices. To start with we don’t see architecture and landscape as separate things – one only exists happily with the other, we have long held this belief, and we can only really think about architecture and landscape together.
Courtingtons are one of a very few architectural and landscape design practices that believe in the benefit of designing the architecture of your project with the landscape. We are firm believers in the philosophy that our homes and workplaces feel better when we have strong links from the inside to the outside.

We have also embraced sustainable and net-zero carbon design, we use biophilic design principles, and where possible are considerate of wellness and well-being in all of our designs. We mostly design houses and gardens, but we have experience in all sorts of typologies, and should you be interested in adopting these principles why not contact our team, and our partner network of specialists, and ask for a meeting?
Each Courtingtons project starts with an initial meeting with our Director of Architecture Jon Courtney-Thompson ARB RIBA, and Director of Landscape Sue Hetherington AMLI.
