Who are we - About CTAC

The Concrete Testing Adherence Collaboration (CTAC) program is designed with a sharp focus on enhancing the work of contractors and testing labs by promoting uniform testing practices that adhere to ACI Standards. CTAC directly supports contractors and testing laboratories by evaluating and improving the procedures of testing technicians during on-site concrete testing.

The program continues to see significant enhancements, including an updated questionnaire in dealing specifically with Initial Curing, as well as improvements to the website and mobile applications. These upgrades allow for more accurate data collection, which is critical for contractors, testing labs and concrete suppliers to review and refine their practices.  Job specific Dashboard Reports are available, providing detailed insights into jobsite testing accuracy and performance. These reports are valuable tools for all aspects of the industry, looking to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

By minimizing the impact of false negative or positive concrete tests, the CTAC program safeguards the interests of producers, owners, contractors, and the broader concrete construction industry.

With support from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the Concrete Advancement Foundation (form. the RMC Research & Education Foundation), CTAC has widened its scope to improve the consistency of fresh concrete testing across the continent. The program is continually updated to address the evolving needs of contractors and testing labs in the concrete industry. This ongoing collaboration ensures the consistency and validity of concrete test results, contributing to the structural success and minimizing the GWP of projects.

To Minimize/eliminate the effects of false negative/positive concrete tests on producers, owners, contractors, engineering firms, and the entire concrete construction industry.

In 2015, the Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association (CRMCA) board of directors voted to invest in the creation of the Concrete Testing Adherence Collaboration (CTAC). The goal of the program is to improve the concrete industry and to create uniform testing through ACI Standards. The program assists producers and consultant laboratories in improving testing procedures through the evaluation of testing technicians during on-site concrete testing procedures.

In 2017, the program received an upgrade. The upgrade included modifications to the questionnaire and updates to the website and mobile applications. Based on data collected through assessments across the State of Colorado, reports are produced regularly for the industry to review. Monthly Dashboard Reports were also provided to companies that requested them, which shows their employees performance and the overall company performance as compared to the industry average performance in Colorado.

In 2020, the CTAC program began development to a national level, including parts of Canada. Interest from Associations across North America made it obvious this program could be useful outside of Colorado. With the assistance of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) Research & Education Foundation, the CTAC program expanded the reach for improved consistency of fresh concrete testing. The CTAC program continue to be updated to meet current needs of the concrete industry.

The National  CTAC program went live in April 2022, which included a half-dozen U.S. states and one Canadian Province. Through the year, another handful of State Associations will be partnering with CTAC to begin continuous monitoring of field technicians for the benefit of consistency and validation of concrete test results and structural satisfaction.
