Meet our Volunteers

Holly

Hello, I'm Holly. I started volunteering for CADAS in July of last year. Having been through 20 years of active addiction to alcohol I have come out the other side.

I believe it's now my time to give something back to others. I want to use my experience and lessons learnt to inspire others that change is possible. There is hope and recovery can be a possible path.

CADAS as an organisation are so supportive. Taking care of me and guiding me every step of the way. For that I am grateful. Thank you for giving me this opportunity, CADAS.

Rob

Hi, I’m Robert. I’ve been volunteering at CADAS for approximately 10 years.

I’m currently a Health Walk Leader. I also do canvassing work around Carlisle City Centre. I might be helping out with administrative tasks in the Carlisle office soon as well.

Away from CADAS, I volunteer at Susan’s Farm in Carlisle with Pete. From there, I run a small Preserves business with my friend, Alex.

I enjoy music and films, and I have a substantial collection of CDs.

Lara

Hello, I’m Lara, a former nurse and a trainee psychotherapist, soon to qualify as a counsellor. Originally from Brazil, I’ve been living in the UK for 18 years and relocated from London to Grange-over-Sands in 2022.

My motivation to volunteer with CADAS comes from a desire to give back to the community, having received support myself in areas where I once needed it. I'm also eager to learn from both the CADAS team and those who use the service, and I am certain that this as a valuable opportunity for personal and professional growth.
