Workforce & Community Development
America’s workforce has long been the primary engine of the U.S. economy. Historically, our resilient workforce has consistently risen to meet the challenges of industrial and global shifts. Hard work has defined the identities of Americans for generations, and for many, a “good job” has been the first step toward generational growth in affluence, health and prosperity.
Today, however, our country finds itself in a perfect storm of economic and social disruption with massive implications on what the future of work looks like. While the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence is a significant factor in this sea change, it is not the only one. We are witnessing a convergence of forces: an aging workforce nearing retirement, a widening skills gap in emerging industries, a growing concern of the loss of ‘soft skills’ and a fundamental shift in how and where people work. This confluence of factors creates an urgent need for a new level of resiliency.
The Business for Good Foundation focuses on creating workforce development programs designed to support organizations, initiatives, and individuals who are improving communities in the Capital Region and beyond.
