Potential candidates should fall in one of the following categories:
- Cadets, having completed two rounds of sea service
- Seafarers with an incomplete degree, diploma from vocational institutes of 2-year studies, CertHE or equivalent, and with at least two years of relevant work experience.
- University graduates holding a degree in a different subject wishing to use this programme as a conversion course.
English Language Qualifications:
You need to possess one of the following:
- IELTS: a minimum score of 6.0 (with a minimum score of 5.5 in each component of the test)
- Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): Pass and above

Applying to the Online MSc Shipping programme takes only 4 simple steps.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for admission in the Online MSc Shipping programme, it is essential that applicants fulfil the following:
Entry Requirements
Applicants can be admitted to the course if they possess a second-class honours degree from a UK University, or a Ptychion of 6.0 and above from an AEI University or a Ptychion of 7.0 and above from a former TEI University, or a Bachelor from an American University with GPA 2.75 and above or a degree from a Merchant Marine Academy or equivalent qualification from a recognised higher education institution (accredited University, College).
Non-Standard Applications
Applicants for the course will normally be expected to meet all entry requirements of the programme. When an applicant narrowly fails to meet the programme’s entry requirements, they may still be considered for a conditional admission as non-standard applications.
We will also consider mature applicants without a first degree as non-standard applications, as long as they possess:
- the highest-grade certificate of competency (CoC) for unrestricted service as master mariner or chief engineer, or equivalent maritime qualifications
and - substantial relevant professional experience
- competence in English language, demonstrated by an internationally recognised standard test (see the full English language requirements below)
- computer competence (at least the ability to use Microsoft Office)
