The team at Ayada Leads traveled to Selma, Alabama, to participate in the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee, honoring the 1965 voting rights march known as Bloody Sunday. Walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, they joined a broader pilgrimage connecting Minneapolis to Selma, reflecting on the history of the Civil Rights Movement and how its legacy continues to shape conversations around protest, public safety, and civic engagement today.

This mini-documentary, captured by Ayada Leads, documents the community response in Minneapolis and the Twin Cities following federal immigration enforcement actions and the fatal shooting of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Through footage from protests and public gatherings, this video reflects a community in mourning…. and in motion. Grief, anger, resilience, and solidarity fill the streets as residents come together to demand accountability, justice, and an end to violent enforcement practices. Ayada Leads attended to bear witness, uplift community voices, and document this moment as it unfolded, preserving not only the pain, but the collective call for humanity and change.

Following increased ICE operations across Minnesota under Operation Metro Surge, Ayada Leads joined the Immigrant Defense Network at the ICE Out Rally in Minneapolis this past Saturday.Community members came together to reject fear and demand safety and dignity. This is what collective resistance looks like. After all, Organized communities are powerful communities.
