What’s New
The First 12 Days of Internships
June 19, 2026
This summer, Alignment and Northern Kane County Region 110 teamed up to place more than 300 high school interns at over 100 host company locations across the region. The internships kicked off in early June and will continue through early July, giving students hands-on experience in a variety of career fields. Along the way, we’re capturing snapshots of these talented interns in action and sharing highlights of their real-world work experiences.

Elgin Township continues to invest in summer internships and youth mental health resources to youth and families
June 16, 2026
Elgin Township provided the first grant to Alignment in 2022 for $9,600 to help fund 75 high school students with paid summer internships as part of its summer enrichment grant program. Five years later with funding received each year, Elgin Township has funded for 2026, a $21,600 grant to support the growth of paid summer internships for high school students.

Hoffer Foundation provides an additional annual gift of $25,000 to grow the summer internship program.

Since day one of Alignment’s conception, the Hoffer Family has been at the table encouraging local school districts and the business community to work more strongly together helping Alignment and the region’s school districts build partnerships across the greater Elgin area. As a result of these partnerships, Alignment has advanced the organization from serving less than 5,000 students in 2021 to over 15,000 students in 2026.

Alignment continues to benefit from the Seigle Foundation’s steadfast support

Alignment continues to receive the steadfast support of the Seigle Foundation with an annual grant award of $47,250 to prepare our youth for future personal and career success. This generous funding will allow Alignment to continue expanding its work-based learning initiatives for middle and high school students throughout the U-46, 300, 301 and 303 school districts serving 11 high schools in the region.

Over 300 Students Entering Paid Internships in June

Beginning June 2, over 300 high school students from School Districts 300, 301, 303 and U-46 will begin paid internships through our summer internship program – a work-based learning opportunity that allows students to explore a career through placement with a local employer.
