Who can become a member of AFIS?

AFIS is open to anyone who believes in parental choice in education, with independent schooling (including home-schooling, online and hybrid) as part of that choice.

You might be:

  • A current, past or prospective parent or relative of children in independent education
  • A teacher, staff member or governor of an independent school
  • A former student of independent education
  • A supplier to independent schools and/or a service provider to independent schooling families, keen to see the sector grow and thrive
  • Anyone else who supports parental choice and pluralism in schooling provision

We always need more people to help us in all areas of the organisation. You might have skills and expertise in marketing, research, technology, operations or finance. There’s a lot of work to do and it’s a really exciting time to get involved with our small, committed team of like-minded people with a shared purpose.

The more members we have, the more significant our collective voice will be and the more work we can do to benefit more children and families involved with independent schooling

We want AFIS membership to be freely available to everyone who supports our mission to champion independent schooling and parental choice.

We are a not-for-profit community interest company and most of our team are volunteers, allowing us to keep our operational costs to a minimum. We rely on the generosity of our members, sponsors and other donors to fund much of our work.

Many of our members choose to support us with one-off or regular donations.
