Services
Our core services are designed to support our mission of equipping, educating, and advocating for people with disabilities across South Carolina.
Not a Victim: Engaging in your power!
Instability to Security: Creating hope with practical steps
I came to Able SC for help with housing, employment, and transportation. I’d reached out to other agencies before, only to be passed around with no real support. In the meantime, I lost two jobs due to my disabilities and was facing eviction.
Able SC Staff changed that. They treated my situation with urgency and respect, kept appointments, followed up promptly, and provided real resources that moved things forward. It may sound basic, but it’s far from the norm. Many agencies act like they’re doing you a favor—Able SC Staff understood it’s their job to help, and they did it well.
Today, I’m working at a nonprofit and have secured housing support that will soon lead to stable, long-term housing. Able SC’s support was critical in getting me here.
Teacher Testimonial: Student success!
One of my former students is enjoying being so involved in Able SC activities. I’ve seen her self-confidence grow by leaps and bounds as she has continued to mature into young adulthood, working with your agency. I’m thrilled that she has found a place to “belong.” Many of my students leave me at 21 and quickly become stagnant due to the lack of meaningful activities in their lives after school. I’m encouraging all of my students to get involved with Able SC, even before they graduate from school.
When I first started teaching the MID Transition class in the early 2000s, there were few agencies for me to connect my students with before or after they left high school. Fortunately, there are now several agencies I can direct my students toward, but my top choice is always Able SC.
