Why make this site?

It's fun! I love to use incentive sheets to motivate and encourage my students and I love to reward them for great progress or a job well done. I don't like to give candy or small trinkets, and I've found that printed awards work wonderfully. I'd been using these for some time with my students and decided to make a site where other teachers could do the same.

The history of the site

In November 2006, I launched 123Certificates.com with just 20 award templates. Over the years the collection grew to 1,250+ certificate designs covering sports, school subjects, holidays, formal occasions, and more. In 2025 I rebuilt the entire site with modern layouts, improved navigation, and a better certificate maker - while keeping everything free.

What's the best thing about this site?

If you use the site's certificate maker, there are no URLs or watermarks on your certificates. I think it's tacky to have a website name printed on a certificate you're presenting to someone. So that - plus the fact that it's completely free - are the best things this site has to offer. Just do me a favor and remember the site's name. :)

Will you make a certificate if I ask?

Absolutely, as long as I can. Almost half of the sports certificates came from requests from coaches and parents. The teacher certificates section was a request from a school principal in Turkey. If you have an idea and can't find what you're looking for, let me know. I'll do what I can.

Are there any restrictions on use?

Yes. You can find an abbreviated version of the terms at the bottom of every page, or read the full MES End User License Agreement for details.

Does 123 Certificates collect visitor information?
