WWPNUtility is a lightweight tool that helps storage and virtualization administrators quickly discover, validate, and share World Wide Port Names (WWPNs) and World Wide Node Names (WWNNs) from Fibre Channel host bus adapters. It streamlines SAN tasks—such as zoning, LUN masking, onboarding, and documentation—by presenting clean, copy-ready identifiers with clear context.
Key features:
- Discovers Fibre Channel ports and displays WWPN/WWNN in common formats (colon-separated or plain hexadecimal)
- One-click copy and export to CSV for tickets, change requests, and audits
- Optional labeling and notes to map ports to hosts, fabrics, and storage targets
- Format validation to reduce typos and inconsistent notation
- Duplicate detection to prevent mis-zoning or masking errors
- Lightweight, read-only discovery designed to avoid configuration changes
Ideal use cases:
- Preparing accurate zone requests during new host onboarding
- Reconciling SAN inventories and documentation
- Troubleshooting pathing or connectivity by confirming the exact WWPNs in use
Whether you manage a small lab or a large fabric, WWPNUtility helps you capture the right identifiers the first time and share them with confidence.
WWPNUtility is developed by EMC Greg Barker. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.9 and 2.1.
