The Writing Center

Colorado School of Mines

The Writing Center offers free academic assistance to all campus members (faculty, staff, students, and alumni) for various forms of communication, such as papers, scholarship essays, and presentations, at any stage of the writing process. Our aim is to support the entire Mines community.

Appointment Information

Both in-person and online appointments are available for Spring 2026. All in-person appointments take place at 1700 Illinois St.

Appointments are 50 minutes long, with shorter sessions available for brainstorming sessions, outlining, or assignments under 300 words. Cancel at least 20 minutes beforehand to avoid being marked as a no-show, which can lead to account suspension after three instances.

What to Expect

During appointments, be prepared to discuss your goals with a consultant to create a plan. Sessions last 50 minutes and can result in anything from an outline to a final draft. Regular appointments help improve communication skills.

For inquiries, email writing@mines.edu.
