What will your life be like in three years?

Hi friends and readers!

At first, I would like to answer by saying I don’t know. My argument is simple, I don’t know what will happen to me in three years. While so many things can happen, nothing can happen as well. However, I decided not to go there. It’s all about what kind of mindset I have.

Three years is in the future and nothing is certain. However, the things I do in the present will shape where I will be then. Of course, that gives me a little bit of idea on what my life should be then. There is nothing wrong with it, to have goals. So, what will my life be like in three years?

I will probably still go on hikes. I most likely completed most hikes in Malaysia, it won’t be entirely impossible if I hiked most of the popular spots in Southeast Asia too. So, I might hike somewhere else, like the Scottish Highland or the Swiss alps. Probably more European hikes!

To be able to afford that, of course I am doing well financially. Most likely having a job that allows me to earn a lot and happily give my time and energy to it. Or if it’s not from a job, probably from my side gigs! Offering life coaching sessions, sales from my guidebooks, and affiliates too! Or perhaps generous souls support me by treating me too much coffee! Who knows right!

What about you? How will your life be like in three years?

I wonder again and again

Photo by Jeffrey Riley on Pexels.com

I wonder again and again,
From time to time,
Where will the day take me?

Will I be someone,
That write something,
And pleasing people,

Will I be someone,
That help someone,
And known for it,

Will I be someone,
That struck gold,
And live leisurely,

Will I be someone,
That lost everything,
And have nothing,

Will I be someone,
That lost my way,
And keep on searching,

Will I be someone,
That keeps on trying,
Even on my last breath,

Will I be someone,
Or no one?

What are you most proud of in your life?

What are you most proud of in your life?

Hi friends and readers!

What am I most proud of in my life? I believe I am proud of myself because I made it this far.

If I look back and count all the steps I’ve taken to even get this far, it’s impossible not to be proud. To look back and remember the pain and suffering, the tears and screams, the feeling of heartbroken and feeling empty, I deserve to be proud of myself.

Even if I am still not where I want to be now in terms of success. But hey, staying and still living is also a success. If you are reading this and you have been struggling so much in your life, I hope you are proud of yourself. You made it this far. You did not give up on yourself. Good job!

Ally’s Thoughts: I just smile when they said I have it easy

Photo by Daniel Abbatt on Pexels.com

Hi friends and readers,

I feel like I want to talk about something that keeps on bothering me recently. I’ve been talking to different people, friends, acquintances and all. Somehow, I can’t help to shake this feeling that they think I’m having it easy in life. I mean from a stranger perspective, I can understand in a way.

I only have a part-time job, I get to take 3 days off, I went hiking whenever I can, and I rarely talk about my personal issues to anyone. I will mostly listen and giving them moral support. There was even a time when I went for a hike with a friend, he told me that I don’t have any problems.

To tell the truth, I don’t even know if I supposed to feel triggered or proud. I think this is why I can relate so much to the song Last One Standing by Skylar Grey featuring Polo G, Mozzy & Eminem. Here is the link if you feel like listening to this empowering song.

I may have it easier compared to other people, that doesn’t mean my journey here was invalid. I struggle with depression for so long. That’s the general of it not the specific ones that I sometimes forgotten. The self-destructing behaviour, the unhealthy addiction, the spiraling negative thoughts, the unregulated emotions, the constant mental struggle and arguments inside my head and the constant expectations of others. You know how hurtful it is when people came to you and threw their assumptions to your face that you know it’s not real. They don’t know the struggle I have to go through to even stay sane at some points.

I’m here. That’s what matters right now. I want to live in the present and living it the way that makes me feel fulfilled. I may not think too much about the future but I know this, how I am working my present is how my future will be. I’m doing my work now. This kind of peace that I have right now is priceless. I wish to keep it this way.

Plus, if they read my blog, they will pretty much know almost everything about me and my struggle. I wrote them as thoughts and poetry. My poetry is my story, feelings and existence.

Death sent me a memo

Death sent me a memo,
He is visiting tomorrow,
I will cry tonight,
Out of joy,
Counting my hours,
But He kept it a secret,
‘Tomorrow’ and that’s it,

Will it be dawn?
But tomorrow starts after midnight,
Maybe during my sleep,
Can I really sleep?
I’m excited,
How will I spend my time?

Maybe in the afternoon?
Will He come during lunch?
Or maybe not,
Earlier probably,
I can’t wait,

He may come late,
In the evening,
It is technically tomorrow,
Can I wait that long?
It’s making me anxious,

I hope he come before midnight,
I don’t want to die at night,
They have to wait till morning,
To bury me,
I don’t want to stay that long,

Death sent me a memo,
Still playing with me until the end.

What principles define how you live?

Daily writing prompt
What principles define how you live?

I have a few principles that define how I live my life.

Kaizen – continuous improvement

The first one that I hold true would be from the Japanese principles called Kaizen meaning continuous improvement. I believe in this concept because personally for me, that is how life should be. What I love about this concept is, it doesn’t force improvement. Usually, when they introduce the concept of Kaizen, they would offer the word innovation. Are we seeking continuous innovation or continuous improvement? Innovation usually refers to offering a new concept of something new whereas improvement is trying to improve something close to perfection. If you have a different opinion, I understand. I’m not trying to argue, it is just how I understand this concept.

So, I apply Kaizen in my daily life like trying the things I’ve never tried. Developing growth mindset. Ultimately for me, it’s not to be perfect or something like that, more like I’m open to try and accept failure.

Qanaah – the feeling of contentment with the Allah’s blessings

In general terms, it is the feeling of contentment in the things that we have. To me, the same concept of happiness comes from ourselves and not from external factors. I teach myself to feel content and it helps me to feel gratitude too. I believe feeling content and gratitude comes together.

Embracing imperfection

I stopped looking for perfection and I embrace imperfection. Perfection is never the end goal for me. I somehow believe that if we only chase perfection, we will miss out on so many other things in life. I’m not perfect, I accept my imperfection. Does that mean I’m not trying to be better? No, I refer back to the first principle which is Kaizen. That’s where I am right now and moving forward.

Amor Fati – love of fate

Things happened, move on or at least try to move on. There are so many things in my life that happened without any warning. Sometimes, it took me some time to process the things that happened. Even before I had the time to process what happened, other things started to pile up. That’s life. That’s how hard it is for some people. And that’s fate.

I’m willing to accept the things that have happened and I know I cannot turn back time. What’s important is to look forward and move towards that direction. Trust me, listing all the things that happened will only make myself miserable, so I choose to accept and move on.

What was the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?

What was the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?

Hi friends and readers,

For this post, I would like to put a TRIGGER WARNING. I’d be writing about my depression and suicide that affected my life.

What was the hardest personal goal I’ve set for myself?

The hardest would be seeking help. There are two times in my life that my personal goal is to seek help. Both are for my depression and on separated time.

The first one would be in between 2018-2019. I was dealing with depression while being burnout at work. I can feel my mental capacity drained empty. I can’t help to imagine about how good it is to end everything. I live my life as a robot less than a human. Instead of powering through, it felt like plowing through my daily suffering. Every single day, I would be playing this vision in my head of me jumping in front of the coming train, oncoming traffic and jump from the highest floor of my office.

Until one day I said to myself, I can’t keep on like this. I have the urge to do something for myself. At one point, I braved myself to go to the clinic for a mental health assessment. I took the first step, then diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety Distress. That’s when I got to my first personal goal.

The second one would be around 2023. While I had the worst mental state during Covid, everything changed in 2023. I had a broken heart, broken mind, and broken soul. I don’t see myself going anywhere, more or less in the future. I hit my limit of believing things will be better. I was lost in a deep spiral of negative thoughts.

I only thought of two things, what is my purpose of living and I want my life to end immediately. I was unemployed and mostly doomscrolling on TikTok. However, thanks to that, I found my psychotherapist. I convince myself that this might be my last try to keep on trying. So, I got in contact with her.

To my therapist, Liz, if you’re reading this, thank you very much. You’ve been really helpful on this journey of mine.

So far, I’m still here. I’ve learned to be a human that is kind to myself. I’m here writing about it and sharing it with you. I don’t know what the future holds but what I know is, I want to live in the present. I want to live now. I want to be here and enjoy every second of it.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

Hi friends and readers!

I don’t know if I want to say this is my favorite hobby but I’ve been doing it over a year now and I enjoyed it so much. I’ve started hiking last year simply because I have been wanting to try it for a long time but I don’t have the effort to do so. Plus, I was in therapy last year and somehow it became a goal for me to complete. So, I put my effort and found a group that clicks really well with me and my first hike was set!

To date, within a bit more than a year, I’ve hiked 22 places including hills and mountains. Some to see great views, some for the waterfalls, and some for just a simple sunrise.

What keeps me going to do it again and again?

One thing that I notice a lot whenever I hike is I can feel the rush of adrenaline. Not only that, all the good chemicals in my brain seems producing really well. I smile and feel happy whenever I hike. It does comes with sore legs and backpain. I’m in my early 30s and my body are not used to me being outdoor. Hah!

Being depressed for so long and just being outside with nature heals me a lot. It helps me being in the present. I touch and hug trees. Sweats a lot. The satisfaction of completing the hike and rewarding myself with cold drinks afterward really made me feel alive.

That’s why I keep going for hikes. So, what about you? What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
