I think the hardest part of writing was to open my heart to share. I never thought my writing was good enough and my words would fall short and stumble beyond comprehension. I always thought that judgement would come to my doorstep and break down my door with embarrassment like the time my mother found my diary. So, I hid, and kept my writing to myself, and I didn’t even talk about what or who I was writing about.
It wasn’t until my 40’s that I began to share my writing. My father was one of the first to read one of my poems and he began to encourage me to design my first website. For years I still dragged my feet. It wasn’t until he was in hospice dying of colon cancer that I finally made that leap to put my heart and pen out into the world. Two days before he passed away and he laid in bed with his last dying breath, I brought in my laptop and shared my website design. In that moment, we were the closest we’ve ever been. I remember his smile and he raised his eyebrows as if he was saying to me, I’m proud of you. Now go out into the world and make a difference in your life and others. After he died, I wrote a prose dedicated to his life and what he meant to me. It was the first time that I heard my writing being read by someone other than myself. It left me breathlessly sad but enlightened at the same time.
From that moment on, I’ve been sharing my writing on websites, blogs, and other social media platforms. I’ve published a few books and shared in various other publications with other writers. It was if I was a bird set free from a cage that I had lived in for most of my life. I opened my wings and began to fly not knowing if I was high from this freedom or on a destination of being once again caged.
Years later, I find myself writing facing the fear of writing again with my first mental health blog about bipolar and anxiety disease. I don’t think I would have had the courage if it wasn’t for my father still whispering encouragement in my ear, the support and faith of a few friends on and offline, and the unconditional love and guiding light from my son.
My gratitude runs deep and my passion for writing undying. I feel that if I can continue to make one difference in someone’s life, then I have accomplished and once again overcome my greatest fear of all… sharing my thoughts through love, light, and the darkness that I have lived through in my life.
My journey has led me here, opening all that I am in my deepest of days and nights in this thing we call life. Thank you for walking beside me and believing in me when I often do not believe in myself.

I am a lover of unspoken language.
When all else fails
and my tongue cannot capture
the words to convey,
I find the language of my heart in pen…
I hope you will leave here feeling inspirited and inspired, and finding love and peace along your journey…
Sincere appreciation for visiting!
Sending you love, light and peace to your heart…
