About

The Middle East Studies Organization was founded during the fall semester of 2005. In December of 2005 MESO became an official Chartered Organization by the Doctoral Student Council of the Graduate Center.

The mission of MESO is to provide the Graduate Center community with a forum for interdisciplinary research, discussion, networking and conference support relating to scholarly and professional pursuits in Middle Eastern Studies. It exists to bring together students and faculty from various departments – including but not limited to Comparative Literature, English, History, Music, Mathematics, Philosophy, Sociology, Theater, Art History, Anthropology, French, Psychology and Political Science – to discuss the study of the Middle East and Middle Eastern scholarship in all its aspects. It also supports and encourages students and faculty from various departments in the study of various aspects of Middle Eastern studies.
