What is an Internship?
An internship is a structured work experience where individuals gain practical skills while exploring a career pathway. Interns work on real projects under guidance and mentorship, often for academic credit or a stipend. Internships provide valuable workplace experience, build professional networks, and prepare individuals for long-term success in high-demand industries.

Internship Opportunities
Texas Intern Network highlights the value of internships and connects students across the state with Texas employers and fellow interns. Through virtual and in-person events, as well as a dedicated LinkedIn networking platform, participants can build meaningful professional relationships and expand their career opportunities.
The Texas Intern Network portal is a free resource where employers can post internships and students can search and apply for opportunities across the state. The platform features both paid and academic credit internships. It was developed following a recommendation from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the Texas Education Agency, and THECB to Governor Greg Abbott as part of the Tri-Agency Initiative.
Through TXWORKS, employers who offer paid internships to undergraduate students at Texas colleges and universities may be eligible for reimbursement. For the 2024 to 2025 program year, the state provides $15 per hour for approved internships, with participating employers matching that amount.
