Matt, thanks. I have identified the plugin that is creating the conflict.
It is generate press pro for my generate press theme.
When go pro is off the post type works. When it is on white screen.
I’ll also post on Tom usbornes forum and see if he has a solution.

I turned them off and tracked down the culprit. IT was WP-COurseware. I’ll email the creators and tell them.
