Hi Mircea, I tested this on a few other sites and did not get the same results, so it does seem to be some other plugin causing the weird behavior. Thanks for your quick response!

It’s hard to imagine that any of the plugins on the site are doing that in, but I will try again on another site without any plugins active. The only potential plugin I can see that might interfere would be Wordfence, but I’ll give it a go on another site with all plugins deactivated. If it’s still happening, I’ll send a Loom or something of it happening.

I had the same issue on only one of many sites and somehow deactivating and reactivating a few plugins fixed it. Tried everything else suggested and nothing worked. Cleared cache at local, Cloudflare, and server level, tried on many different browsers, rolled back WP, etc. Some magic happened by deactivating and reactivating one of 3 plugins which I’m not sure I can identify at this point since I cannot recreate the issue.

@jeroenrotty I’ve experienced this issue on a few of my sites as well and it didn’t just happen with that one Yoast update. It has happened with multiple Yoast updates and several sites as well – for example, fernandmaple.com and shesaved.com. It just happened to shesaved.com on the latest update from 19.12 to 19.13. Re-saving permalinks fixes it every time but it has happened, but the only commonality between the sites of when this happens is a Yoast update. Most of the sites I’ve noticed this on are Genesis themes, but not every single one. I can assure you that I know of other people with this problem as well.

I agree with the feedback from others. Some images appear more pixelated or blurry than what I desire (or my clients desire) now with the “smart” optimization automatically enabled. I would like to see the ability to choose the optimization level again. For now, I’ve stopped using Imagify on any new sites and uninstalled it on a few others until this issue can be corrected. Do you have a timeline on when this will be fixed @wp_media ?????

Updating WC and WP and all plugins to the latest versions did not fix the problem nor fix or create any PHP errors. I did not try updating PHP to 7.4, but figured out that it was a problem not executing due to being implemented via the Code Snippets plugin. When removed from the Code Snippets plugin environment and implemented directly in the child theme functions.php file, the custom code called via the woocommerce_order_item_meta_start hook worked as expected.
