OK – I think I may have solved this problem. The Classic Editor plugin updated and the problem disappeared. There seems to have been a problem with Classic Editor and the latest version of Yoast. The same with the Disable Gutenberg plugin – but that hasn’t been updated so I’ve replaced all my installations of DG with the latest version of Classic Editor and all seems well so far.
The problem with the Yoast meta box being at the top of the right-hand column is that it obscures the Publish box. I can of course resolve this by going to Yoast settings and disabling the ‘Enable SEO controls and assessments’ box. This makes the meta box disappear completely from the editing window – which is good for my clients when they’re publishing new posts or editing static pages – but a bit of a bind for me because I have to enable SEO controls every time I want to edit Yoast. Is there any way to disable Yoast for different types of user?
I can drag Yoast to the bottom of the right-hand column – but I can’t drag it under the editor, which is really where I’d like it to be.
Yes, I can see the triangle and arrow icons if I scroll all the way to the right. I can minimise the Yoast box:

Hi Bosendorfer,
I’m afraid your thread doesn’t solve my problem, for the following reasons:- Go to the add new post screen.
- If the sidebar DOES NOT show ‘Post’ and ‘Block’, click on the gear icon next to the ‘Publish button’.
I am using the Classic editor. There is no gear icon next to the Publish button
- Click the kebab three-dot menu.
There is no three-dot menu
- Click on ‘Preferences’.
There are no ‘Preferences’
- Under ‘Panels’, check ‘Custom fields’ and ‘Yoast SEO’.
There are no Panels
Maybelline: when editing a page or post I have ensured that the Yoast SEO box is ticked in Screen Options. When I untick it, Yoast disappears from the right-hand column and the usual Publish, Format, Categories etc boxes are revealed and I can save my edits. When I tick the Yoast SEO box in Screen Options, Yoast SEO appears once again over the top of the usual content on the right-hand column, rendering the update button, page attributes box, Featured image box etc. unreachable.
I guess if there’s no solution to this issue I will need to untick Yoast SEO, save my edits and then tick Yoast SEO, making any SEO changes in the right-hand column – where it appears to have migrated from its previous position under the page/post editing window.
Thanks for responding.

The Yoast SEO has moved to the dashboard right-hand column – over the top of the usual content. I’ve tried deactivating all the plugins, changing the theme, changing the PHP to a previous version, and I’ve tried dragging the Yoast panel to under the edit window – and none of this has worked.
This isn’t a problem with Gutenberg but I prefer to use Classic.

In reply to: [Gallery by FooGallery] Gallery not workingFurther to this, I have managed to get the custom URL functionality working by reverting to Foogallery 2.2.44. However the Foogallery settings window is still misbehaving; all the options are squashed down the right-hand side. I’d really like to get it back to how it was working before.
I have the same problem with ordering videos, and blank, broken links where videos have been deleted.
There also seems to be a problem saving the title of a video. I paste n the title, update the video and then click ‘update’ to update the gallery and the new title hasn’t saved.

In reply to: [Classic Editor] Save popup seen even in page with no changes madeI’m getting something very similar. Every time I save a page, before I move away from the page I get the pop-up ‘Are you sure you want to leave this page?’
I *am certain* this is caused by this plugin because when I deactivate it the problem disappears.
This has started since WP 5.6.1

In reply to: [Gwolle Guestbook] Word limitHi Marcel,
500 is what the client wants 🙂
Afraid your method is too complex for me. If you can point me to the file where the coding is I can go in via FTP and change it.
Thanks
