Looks like you are right, thanks! Not sure if the Yoast plugin changed its defaults or what, but the change seemed to coincide with the WordPress update. The Yoast settings are not so clear, either, as to whether “Keep” or “Remove” is the setting you want in order to avoid having words stripped out.

Think I resolved it. If anyone else has this problem, a better math captcha seems to be found here.

I’m looking at it on IE & I have a cable connection; I know it comes up fine on Firefox, but IE is still the majority of the users. Maybe it’s my computer versus my connection, but other WordPress sites I see come up much faster for me.
