Hi. We’ve noticed that Yoast SEO changes the default WordPress hyperlink editor interface, and makes editing a link difficult or nearly impossible in some situations. Wondering if there’s any way to disable this feature without disabling Yoast altogether?

This behavior persists after updating to Yoast SEO v21.4.

ISSUE 1: Here’s a screenshot of editing a hyperlink with a long URL. The edit icon (pencil) is not on the pop-up screen, so no easy way to edit the link. It should be to the right of the URL.

ISSUE 2: When you CAN get to the edit icon to edit the link, the field to enter the link TEXT is not available when Yoast is enabled. This makes it very challenging to retain existing link text or change it to something different.

CORRECT: This is with Yoast disabled. You can see a clear field for entering the link TEXT and the link URL. And long URLs do not cause edit icon to be hidden.

    • Is there a function or something we can add to disable Yoast’s modifying of the hyperlink dialog?

We’d like to keep Yoast activated for other features, but this made it very difficult for our client to do something as simple as updating a few links.

    THANKS!

    Hello Kennyll,

Thanks for reaching out about link options in the Yoast SEO plugin. There have been some changes after the WordPress 6.3 release. There were no issues if you tested what you described with a previous release. Sadly, there’s no function to disable the link options.
