WP Email Basic Settings

    Hi, I am fairly new to using WordPress and need some assistance setting up the emails. I am using Hostgator and need to know the basic settings for managing my sites outgoing emails..?? I have the email template set-up, however I’m also confused on where I can edit the outgoing emails?? Last question, is the WP-SMTP plugin better/easier to use alongside hostgator than the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin?

    Any and all help is much appreciated!
