• Could you PLEASE STOP putting this message in the Dashboard or at the very least allow users to CLOSE it so that it won’t show all the time.

Google Analytics Dashboard for WP has been updated to version 4.9.6.2. For details, check out the documentation page and the plugin’s settings page.

Just think if every WP plugin did this! It reminds me of my support days when users had 15+ toolbars in their browsers.

There is no excuse for this… Please STOP this practice.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

That message is dimissable. If you can’t dismiss it is because of an issue. On most cases you can’t dismiss is because of a JavaScript error or a browser privacy extension preventing its normal behavior.

That message is displayed to let users know that the plugin has been updated. It was introduced to address the cases where users want to know if the plugin was automatically updated to a minor version (instead of sending emails, a message is displayed) and to announce them that they should check the settings after major updates (imagine loosing a few days worth of stats because something went wrong during an update and the user haven’t checked his settings). In addition, on multisite installs, when network activated, it’s critical for site admins to know that a manual/automatic update has occurred (for the same reasons).

These being said, the feature is the result of users’ requests.

If there are better ways to achieve it, all suggestions are highly appreciated.

    Thanks for the feedback!
