Hi there,
As long as you have VideoPress enabled on your site and you haven’t used up your available video hosting storage, the videos will get uploaded to our servers and not yours. The only “video footprints” you should see in your “wp_content/uploads” folder are thumbnail images. You can see how to check if VideoPress is enabled from our support documentation.
Also, please note that we recommend uploading videos via WordPress.com because your host may have upload limits in place that could prevent the video from being processed. VideoPress uploads are also not supported from WP Admin > Media > Add New. To upload to VideoPress via WP Admin, we recommend adding your videos from the Media Library or the block editor using the Video block. You can learn more from our support documentation.
We could check from our end that VideoPress is enabled if you provide your site URL. If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form. If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.
Kind regards.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I have to test by uploading a new video, because I do see the first file I uploaded (via wordpress.com) on my host’s server, with it’s actual size (447 Mo).
VideoPress is correctly enabled on my site.
Hi @33singes –
If you are continuing to have issues, please contact us via email as your VideoPress allows you to access priority support via email.
Please reference this thread when contacting us.
Hello,
I just tested a new upload, everything is OK. Only the thumbnails images appear on my host’s server.
Thanks for letting us know.
With that, I’m going to mark this thread as resolved. If you have questions about VideoPress in the future, I’d encourage you to contact us via email.
