    Hello everyone, I have using mailpoet 3.0.0, free user at my wp 4.6.1.

    I want to configure cron for automatic mailing, but I do not see the url that I have to use in the curl, and neither does geek options appear in mailpoet -> settings -> advanced
    I have ativated “script own mailpoet”, but i dont know what is my url to run curl.

    Someone can helpme to find the url I need?

    MailPoet 3 uses its own cron implementation. Automatic mailing can be triggered by visitors (it only takes 1 site visit and the rest is handled by the plugin) or by our internal script, which runs in the background and send according to your schedule. There is no URL to configure. If you want to use an external service to act a site visitor, just point that service to your site’s URL.

    Dear Mailpoet,

    In that case I’m wondering how this would work out for a website with more then a million hits a day. I disabled the WP cron because it causes too much overhead for us.

    With this new implementation I’m a bit afraid that every hit will trigger Mailpoet to check the queue. Is this indeed the case, and are there any plans to changes this in the future. We are currently using Mailchimp but I would like to switch to Mailpoet since I use it with great pleasure on other smaller sites already.

    Niels,

    Right now, on every run (site load) the cron daemon checks to see if there is an already running background script. It’s a simple DB read operation that doesn’t take up much resources. In case the background script is running, the site proceeds to load as is. If it’s not, the first user who hits your site will experience a 2 second extra load time while we start the background script.

    We would love to hear how our implementation works on a high traffic web site and work with you to resolve any issues!

    Dear Mailpoet team,

    Thanks for the feedback regarding my question. A follow-up question to this, something I should have thought of directly, how is this request made?

    Is this an Ajax request or just plain php coding. If it’s the second one I don’t see any issues. As you probably understand we use custom caching so not every pageload will run the php code. Only if it’s using Ajax I’m afraid for the consequences. 🙂
