• Hi all,

    I’ve shared a link from my website to twitter and it doesn’t show an image or a ‘card’. It just has my tweet and the link in it.

    I’ve looked around online and there is a suggestion it has something to do with Yoast? I don’t use this plugin.

    Has anyone else had this issue and could anyone help solve it?

    I have tried it on Facebook and it does pull an image through but the one from my Maintenance page. I’ve checked and taken my website out of maintenance mode but still nothing. I wonder, do I need to clear a website cache or something?

    Any help would be really appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!
    Ben

  • I use https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator to test what a Tweet will look like.

    Without a link to an example post on your blog, hard to say what elements might be missing. Usually needs meta tags like:

    <meta name="twitter:site" content="@twitter_handle" />
    <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary" />
    <meta name="twitter:description" content="I just updated my blog to WordPress v5.0.3 which contains several bug fixes. As always, I backed up my files and database first." />
    <meta name="twitter:image" content="https://blog.somewhere.com/images/default-featured-image.jpg" />
