I’ve set up this plugin on multiple websites and not had any issues, but we put it on a client website and and it killed the WordPress admin dashboard. I had a look at the server resources and there were a huge amount of I/O, and looking at the database queries I can see a huge amount of hanging requests for the following command:
ALTER TABLE wp_utm_event_tracker_sessions MODIFY COLUMN session_id VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL DEFAULT ''

I deactivated the plugin and reset the server and we haven’t had any more issues. I suspect it’s something to do with the high traffic volume and maybe another plugin not playing nicely, but I’m not 100% sure.

Is there a way turn off these database queries? Or any other way to improve performance of the UTM Tracking plugin. If I turn off Custom Events and Google Analytics Events will that help?
