It is great to know that you have already found the translation project page on WordPress.org. Here are the steps to follow in order to contribute your translations:
- First, you need to log in to your WordPress.org account. If you don’t have one, you can create a free account at https://login.wordpress.org/register.
- Once you are logged in, navigate to the WooCommerce translation project page that you mentioned: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/woocommerce/stable/de/formal/.
- On this page, you will see a list of translation sets for different components of WooCommerce. Find the one that corresponds to the checkout form.
- After selecting the appropriate translation set, you will see a list of strings that need translation. You can use the search bar to find specific strings related to the checkout form, such as “Surname” or “Telephone number.”
- To add your translation, click on the Details link next to the string you want to translate. This will open a text box where you can input your translation. Once you have entered the translation, click on the Suggest new translation button.
- Your translation will be submitted to the translation project and will be reviewed by a translation editor. Once approved, it will be included in the next WooCommerce update.
Please note that translating strings on translate.wordpress.org will help improve the WooCommerce plugin for all users who speak your language. If you want to change the error messages only for your specific website, you can use a translation plugin like Loco Translate or WPML.

thank you for your reply and the information provided.
I was aware of the process, only needed to find the right string.
I think I have found it, and I believe it will not be possible to correct the mistakes. The reason is:
It is a “%s field label“.
If that´’s the case, then all translations will be false.
Specifically speaking, I am talking about the string:

I don’t speak German, but if you believe one of the checkout error prompts is not accurately translated, then feel free to submit a fix using the link you shared. :)
Although I do not believe it’s a single string for all the errors. For instance, this is the string for the incorrect email format and this one is invalid coupon codes so you might need to search for all of them one by one.
In case you weren’t aware, there’s a search bar in the filter which you can use to search keywords:

I am aware of the search bar and the filters.
Still, I am quite sure that this is something that needs to be passed to the developers.
I am not a programmer, but while looking for the strings to translate, I have found this:

Now go to No 2 and No3, you will find:

One more time: I am talking about the checkout form and the mistakes appearing there. Only there.

The screenshot you provided seems to be of the WooCommerce checkout blocks. WooCommerce Gutenberg blocks have their own separate development repository and translation page.
Also, I would like to note that WooCommerce blocks cannot be translated using plugins like Loco Translate for technical reasons. However, since you are keen on contributing to the translation, you can find the German translation page here: https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/de/default/wp-plugins/woo-gutenberg-products-block/
