• Hello

I’m using the Directory theme on my stagging site and I want to translate it in French.

    As you write it here:
    https://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/article/97-how-to-translate-or-localize-geodirectory

I installed Poedit and translated the short PO of Directory to French but, I couldn’t find the words that I want to translate.

For example, on the index page, in the hero, the search form (Search for / Near) or on the index page, on the map (Search by name).

    Where I can translate them?

By the way, do you need the PO & MO of Directory in French?

I found where I can translate “Search for” and “Near”.

It is on GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Search

If somebody has an idea for the “Search by name” on the map, thanks.

Via GeoDirectory translation file. Not the theme.

    Thanks @paoltaia

By the way, is it better to translate it with Poedit and then put it online or to complete the translation on this site: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/geodirectory/stable/fr/default/

And if I do it on translate.wordpress.org, will I be able to see the translations on my site?

    Thanks

    It’s up to you.

If you translate it with Poedit and upload it to your site, the translations will appear immediately, and you’ll have full control over them.

If you do it on WordPress.org, a translation editor needs to approve them first. Once approved, they will be applied automatically after the next update, and they’ll be available for everyone.

    That’s the difference.

    Thanks for your help @paoltaia

I have 2 more questions for you.

If you make an update on geodirectory-en_US.po, how it happens for my file geodirectory-fr_FR.po and mo?

On the places, on the right column, there are tags, categories, address, etc and after each of them “:”. In French, there must be a space between the word and the “:”. I added a space after the translation on Poedit but I have a warning symbol. Is it possible to add the “:” in the translation as it is done for some other words?

    Thanks

    Christophe
