Too basic since forever

Customers do not have an option to change their preference until they make a purchase, there is an issue opened since 2017 on github, not attention given to it. Admin should also have the option at the backend when creating order or creating user account from backend. Since 2017, no attention to that. Its crap in my own opinion, coming from a paid subscriber of Mailchimp
