‘This Post’ in Widget?

This plugin is very useful to me. But is there a way to specify ‘this post’ in the widget? In order to retrieve a value in a widget area from ‘this post’, I’ve had to place a [custom_field] shortcode in a in a text widget with this_post=’1′. Am I missing a setting on the widget that does the same thing as the ‘this post’ parameter in the shortcode? Thanks in advance for any help.
