Hello, I had to disable this plugin for damage control. I tried using a pre-built template and was customizing it. I never once hit ‘publish’ to my knowledge. The site registered one new account and had two purchases during the 15 minutes I was customizing the pre-built template. Unfortunately, these customers received an email branded with the “Hot summer hot sales” header, very embarrassing considering it’s the middle of winter, and several years out from 2018. Is there a way to work on a pre-built template without the customers seeing it until you decide it’s ready? I’m kind of afraid to use it again, might do so on a dev site but only if I can activate it without triggering the pre-built unmodified template. Thanks for any insight, was enjoying using it until I looked at the sent emails through the mail logging software and about fainted.

    Hi @euphemism,

    Greetings from WebToffee Support!

We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have experienced and appreciate your patience. Upon thorough testing on our end, we would like to bring two things to your attention:

Firstly, the Decorator – WooCommerce Email Customizer plugin currently provides an inbuilt option to save customized templates as drafts, which can be found in the dropdown for the publish button. However, we have previously acknowledged an issue within this option where the customizations saved as drafts are getting reflected in the live emails. Rest assured, we have already taken necessary steps to rectify this issue, and a fix will be available in the upcoming release of the plugin.

The second thing we would like to let you know is that if you have never saved the customized emails as drafts or hit the publish button, the customizations made in the email template will not be reflected in the live email. The changes will only be reflected in the current scenario if you have either hit the publish button or saved the edited template as a draft. Additionally, if you have edited a template and closed the plugin interface without publishing or saving the customization as a draft, the changes made will be lost and can’t be retained.

In case you accidentally hit the publish button or saved as a draft, and you wish to revert to the default template style, you can use the ‘Reset’ button, and all changes made to that template will be removed.

Regarding your concern about the display of the ‘Hot summer hot sales’ header image in emails, if you wish, you may change it by navigating to Decorator > Header > Header image > Change image and selecting the image of your choice.

We hope this information clarifies the situation. We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding while we work on rectifying the issue.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to let us know. We are here to help.

“we have previously acknowledged an issue within this option where the customizations saved as drafts are getting reflected in the live emails. “

This is exactly what happened, as I looked in our mail log, which does not lie, and the prebuilt template was used in three outgoing emails. I did save the draft because I’d made numerous changes to the template. I am feeling slightly less lazy today and uploaded the screenshot of one of the live emails that went out:

You said this was previously acknowledged this issue. I saw nothing in the interface warning of this issue. I searched the forum for this issue and found nothing, which is why I started a new thread. I’m not one to start very many threads on here. While I appreciate the response, you indicate that it will be fixed in a future release, meaning it is not yet fixed. I’m under a time crunch to get these modifications live by today Jan 31, 2024, so I cannot wait around for the fix and risk more order and account notifications going out while I customize. These emails created some overhead for their company to follow up with the customers that are being provided ‘coupons’ that don’t exist. As I stated before I was enjoying the plugin and it was not hard to modify the header image. If you’re curious at I am trying Yaymail (testing first on a dev site – lesson learned), which seems to work better and has a clear toggle switch for when the email is active or not. I think their interface is also slightly more user-friendly.

I’ll refrain from leaving a review since you say it is being worked on. Not all of us have the gift of time on our side. I’ve used WebToffee plugins in the past without any issues. Good luck!

    Hi @euphemism,

Thank you for providing detailed feedback, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the unexpected behavior you encountered. We understand the urgency to make your modifications live, and we’re truly sorry for any complications it may have caused for your company.

The issue you experienced, where customizations saved as drafts were reflected in live emails, was identified after the previous release, and it was not previously reported by any other users. Unfortunately, this is why you couldn’t find a dedicated thread for the issue in the forum. Due to the timing of the discovery, an interface warning couldn’t be provided beforehand. We acknowledge that waiting for the fix may not be feasible for you, and we respect your decision to explore alternative solutions.

Your insights and experiences are invaluable to us as we work on improving our plugins. We’re committed to providing a better user experience, and your feedback contributes to our ongoing enhancements.

If you have any further questions or if there’s anything else we can assist you with, please feel free to reach out. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience.
