    Dear Tobias,

Thanks for such an outstanding plugin! Question: I’m currently developing a site under another WordPress install, and will be exporting my finished work to another WordPress site. Do the tables I create carry over in the XML export, or will I have to recreate them on the live site? Thanks for any help!

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Yes, TablePress does add the tables to these XML files. However: For the import to work properly, you must activate TablePress on the new site, before importing the XML file! Otherwise, the data will not be recognized properly.

(As a fallback and “safety net”, please export the tables to the JSON format (in a ZIP file) on the “Export” screen of TablePress. This way, you’ll have a backup in another format, in case anything goes wrong. This can then be imported on the “Import” screen of TablePress on the new site as well.)

    Regards,
    Tobias
