Hi. We’ve been using GLT on a number of sites for a while now. But we’ve discovered what appears to be a bug when trying to use the shortcode to add language switch links in our mobile menu.

We use the shortcode: [glt language=”Spanish” label=”Español”] and [glt language=”English” label=”English”] to add language switcher links at the bottom of our mobile menu. But when we set the ‘Layout Option‘ to ‘SIMPLE‘, the links do not work (they do nothing). When we set the Layout Option to either ‘Vertical‘ or ‘Horizontal’, the switcher links in the mobile menu work fine. But for the main switcher that we use in our header for desktop devices to look good, we need to use the ‘SIMPLE‘ option for layout.

    • How can we get the shortcode language switcher links to work when choosing ‘SIMPLE’ as the Layout Option?

    THANKS!

    Hi,

You are correct. Unfortunately once you use SIMPLE layout the links created by glt shortcode will not work.

I would recommend to check our GTranslate plugin, which has more looks available and hopefully you will find a better widget look which will look good in your header.

    Thanks! 🙂

Thanks for the response. Trying to see what the difference is between Google Language Translator and the free version of GTranslate. Do they both function pretty much the same?

We add the typical GLT drop-down language selector to our header via shortcode. Then we add just text links for English or Spanish to the bottom of our mobile menu using the [glt…] shortcode. Would both options be available with GTranslate? Neither of these locations are widgetized areas, so using a widget is not an option.

    Thanks!
